Retreats at Asbury Hills | 2020-2021

Here is the answer to the big question–are we still accepting bookings for retreats? Absolutely! Here is a complete rundown of what you can expect for your Fall 2020 and Spring/Fall 2021 retreat at Asbury Hills!

Time and time again we hear from our retreat guests that they truly enjoy their time at Asbury Hills. We strive to offer the best Christian hospitality to our guests along with providing all they need for their retreat to go the best it possibly can. During this weird time our world is in, we want to reassure all of our guests (past, present and future) that we are still open for bookings and doing our best to keep everyone safe.

Here are a few things you can expect when you book your retreat:

Bonnie, our Reservation Specialist, will be sure to go over all new precautions and procedures along with our standard ones. She will be able to answer any of your questions and ensure your retreat is planned just how you need it.

You will need to encourage your guests to check their temperature and do their own symptom checks in the weeks and days leading up to your arrival. We ask that if you (or any in your group) have had any symptoms of COVID-19 as defined by the CDC, have been exposed to anyone who tested positive or you yourself tested positive for COVID-19 that you elect to stay home.

We will need to know your best estimate on number of people in your group. We want to ensure that we have the space for your group and that we can follow all cleaning procedures in preparation for your group.

You will be made aware of our standard symptom check that will happen upon your arrival to Asbury Hills. This is not only for the safety of our staff but the safety of you and your retreat group!

Once your retreat is booked and you arrive on property:

When your group arrives, you’re host will greet you. Each group has a host and they will ensure that you have all you need for the duration of your event.

Your host will conduct a symptom check. They will be checking for any COVID-19 symptoms as defined by the CDC. If anyone in your group is exhibiting any symptoms, they will not be allowed to stay. If someone in a car or van has any symptoms, everyone in the car or van will be asked to leave. This is to ensure the safety of everyone on our property!

You’ll then be directed to your clean and prepared lodging space and meeting area. These spaces are designated to one and only one group!

During your stay:

We ask that you continue to monitor your retreat group and if anyone starts exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms to leave property.

We ask that you practice social distancing and wear a face covering when social distancing is not possible. Just like all dining establishments in Greenville county, face coverings are required to enter our dining hall. It is not mandatory for guests to wear face coverings outside of the dining hall however we do encourage it. Our staff will be wearing face coverings at all times to ensure that you are safe and protected.

Your lodging and meeting spaces will have been deep cleaned prior to your arrival. There will be consistent cleaning in all high traffic areas.

Hand washing stations and hand sanitizer will be available. We do suggest bring your own hand sanitizer for your convenience.

When you leave our property:

We ask that you take all of your belongings. Lost and found will be limited.

If you are the leader for your group, please be sure to fill out the Retreat Group survey! We truly appreciate and value the feedback.

Continue to monitor your group for symptoms of COVID-19. We ask that if anyone in your group tests positive for COVID-19 up to two weeks after your stay at Asbury Hills that you contact our office.

We are doing our absolute best to still create a space set apart for retreat groups to truly reset and retreat from the busy world. We hope that your stay at Asbury Hills is the best it can be and we are doing all we can to keep you safe!

If you have any questions or are ready to book your retreat, feel free to call our office at 864.836.3711.

An Update on Fall Festival 2020

You are probably wondering if Asbury Hills will be hosting our annual Fall Festival this year. We have been wondering, too. Now that we know we will not be able to host this event, it is time that we share it with you.

Due to the impact the pandemic is continuing to have on our community, we are not able to host our annual Fall Festival event at Asbury Hills. Last week, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) released holiday guidelines and recommendations. These recommendations clearly state that festivals held in rural locations were considered high risk to the community. We want to ensure we are doing everything we can to help stop the spread of this virus so we have made the hard decision to cancel our Fall Festival.

While this may not come as a shock to some, we know many people were looking forward to this event. We have worked hard to come up with alternative options but since Asbury Hills is in a rural community, events on property would encourage folks from other communities to attend. This would, in turn, offer up a collection of folks from all over allowing possible positive COVID-19 and asymptomatic folks to spread this illness.

While we are not able to host events, we are able to give tours of our property! This means that you and your family are able to schedule a tour of our property throughout the fall. This is the perfect opportunity for you to show your family Asbury Hills in hopes of attending Summer Camp or planning a retreat.

Here are a few things to note when scheduling a tour of Asbury Hills:

We ask that your tour group consist of people you have been staying home with or close contacts. Please do not invite anyone to your tour that you have not been in close contact with or staying safe at home with since the start of the pandemic.

Tours can be scheduled between the hours of 9am and 5pm on weekdays. If weekends work better for your family, please call to find out weekend availability.

Please ensure that you have been symptom free of COVID-19 symptoms (as stated by the CDC) prior to your arrival.

Be prepared to follow through with an onsite symptom check upon your arrival.

Group sizes are limited to 6 if you are anticipating a riding tour. Please keep groups to a maximum of 8 for walking tours.

Our staff will be wearing face coverings so we ask that you and your family wear face coverings, too.

Feel free to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on property.

We will not have any activities but you and your family are welcome to enjoy our hiking trails!

To book your tour, call our office at 864.836.3711 and chat with Bonnie! She will be able to schedule your tour and give you all the details.

We know the disappointment of Fall Festival not happening this year. We ask that you continue to keep our ministry in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this unknown. If you are able, we would truly appreciate your support in our Fill the Hills campaign. Help us ensure that our gates can remain open once we get through this season of uncertainty.
